We place a strong emphasis on developing pupils’ employability skills and preparing them for the world of work.
Our approach ensures that pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in education, employment and training.
Skills Builder
We use the Skills Builder framework to support pupils in developing essential skills for life and work. These are:

Work Experience
All pupils are given the opportunity to engage in meaningful work experience as part of the programme.
Our approach focuses on quality and impact, ensuring that pupils gain valuable insight into the world of work.
We aim to ensure that all work experience opportunities provide meaningful engagement with employers and support pupils in developing skills for the workplace.
This includes:
- Real workplace environments
- Interaction with employers
- Opportunities to develop practical skills
- Structured feedback and reflection
Work experience placements are carefully matched to pupils’ interests, needs and future goals.
These experiences help pupils to build confidence, develop workplace behaviours and make informed decisions about their future pathways.
How Work Experience is Delivered
Work experience may take place in different formats, including:
- Weekly placements (one to two days per week during term time)
- Short-term placements (one to two week blocks)
Weekly placements are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain meaningful, appropriate and beneficial for each pupil.
Expectations
During work experience, pupils are expected to:
- Attend regularly and on time
- Demonstrate a positive attitude
- Engage with tasks and staff
- Reflect on their learning
